Swapbody Container originated in Europe, “Swapbody” means exchangeable carriage, this container is originally designed to be based on trucks, aiming to achieve convenient conversion between different modes of transportation and improve logistics efficiency.

Cargo load and volume advantages: Due to the relatively reduced weight of the container, the Swapbody Container increases the load weight and volume of the cargo compared to conventional containers of the same size. For example, some Swapbodies can carry up to 12.3 tonnes with an internal volume of 51.17 cubic meters, while an L10 container of the same size (30 feet) has a capacity of only 8.8 tonnes and a volume of 47.16 cubic meters.

Advantages of cargo loading: Compared with the ro-ro transportation method, the weight and space of the truck itself are not required, so that the loading weight and capacity of the goods are expanded.

Cost advantage: It can be varied according to the application, and there is no need for high strength requirements like traditional containers, so the manufacturing cost is relatively cheap.

Advantages of multimodal transport: The use of Swapbody Container makes it very easy to switch from one mode of transport to another, such as from road transport to rail transport, while rail container transport usually requires the use of railway-specific containers, and it is relatively difficult to reload other modes.

Ease of loading and unloading: The Swapbody can be loaded directly in the user’s yard, and because it can be unloaded by itself, it can be loaded and unloaded in the user’s yard without large special equipment.

On the basis of meeting the basic strength and sealing requirements, the box structure pays more attention to lightweight design, using high-strength aluminum alloy or composite materials, etc., to reduce its own weight while ensuring the bearing capacity.

Connection and fixing device: Equipped with standardized connection and fixing device, such as quick lock, twist lock, etc., which is convenient for quick loading and unloading and fixing between different means of transportation to ensure stability during transportation.

Road-rail intermodal transport: It plays an important role in the connection between road and rail transportation, after the truck transports the Swapbody Container to the railway freight yard, the box can be directly hoisted onto the railway vehicle for transportation, and then transferred by the truck after arriving at the destination, realizing the seamless connection between road and rail transportation, improving transportation efficiency and reducing transportation costs.

Transportation of specific goods: Some specially designed Swapbody Containers, such as tank Swapbody Containers, can be used to transport liquid chemicals, edible oils, etc.; Refrigerated Swapbody Containers can be used to transport fresh food.
